Councillor Rob Kendrick's update

Support for Young carers

I was good to hear at today’s meeting of the Children and Young People Scrutiny Committee about the support the county council is giving to young carers.  We had a specially commissioned report on young carers of which there are 7000 in Lincolnshire. They look after parents, siblings and other family members . There were accounts from young people about what they do and support we give them. There are a number of recommendations in the report which we supported to boost the already excellent support to these special young people. A video of the meeting can be seen online at the LCC website: www.lincolnshire.gov.uk

Great festive events around the area

I am pleased to say I was able to visit a number these including those in  Scopwick and  Digby to name just two. I was also delighted to have been invited to switch on the Metheringham Christmas Tree lights. It was a happy event with children from Metheringham Primary School singing carols followed by the Christmas Market.  In all cases I was able to chat with residents which I always find interesting . I am looking forward to other events including ones in Dunston and Timberland.

Have your say - your thoughts on pylons and solar farms

I know in our area the proposed solar farm is a matter of concern.
The Council’s County Views surveys help us get a snapshot of how we’re doing, and to improve services for people across Lincolnshire. We run them three times a year.
In this winter survey, the council is asking about your views on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs), such as pylons and solar farms, in the county.
We want to know:
•    If you’re aware of any NSIPs in your district, and how concerned (if at all) you are
•    What locations you think would be suitable for solar panels, and your thoughts on the proposal of 420 pylons along the east of Lincolnshire and Norfolk
•    How you’d expect to receive information about large-scale developments in your area
We will use your responses to produce a report, which will be published alongside our previous county views  reports.

To take part, please visit www.letstalk.lincolnshire.gov.uk/nsips sign in or register and tell us what you think. The survey is open until 20 January 2025.

The help you need to make your house a home

A new information and advice hub is available to all Lincolnshire residents to improve their housing.
Whether it’s maintenance, heating, insulation, home adaptations or finding a trusted trader – it’s all available on the Good Home Lincs pages of the Connect to Support Lincolnshire website.
There’s also a virtual house and a new Healthy Home Assessment tool which can help you identify common household hazards, potential home improvements, or repairs. This guided assessment provides information and suggestions to help you remain safer and healthier at home.

Lincolnshire County Council has been working with district councils and other partners across the county and the Centre for Ageing Better to create the new resources. The Good Home Lincs hub can be found via the website https://lincolnshire.connecttosupport.org or by ringing: 0300 3038789
