Lincolnshire Show 2023: Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd June.

Come meet and chat with me on Thursday 22nd  from 3-4pm.

At our Meet Your Councillor Marquee over a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit.

We’re once again joining with North Lincolnshire Council and North East Lincolnshire Council under the banner of ‘One Lincolnshire, Think Bigger’.

Our stand is on Avenue 10, Row B – stand number 10-40 – at the Lincolnshire Showground, Grange de Lings LN2 2NA, same as last year.

This year, the two main ‘display’ marquees will be split into four themed areas, focussed on sustainability, skills and employability, visitor economy, and living safe and well. Each area will feature fun and interactive activities that showcase the county as a fantastic place to visit, and highlight the range of services and support that each council offers its residents.

In addition, there will be a Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership Business Networking Event on Wednesday 21 June from 10.30am.

Finding information on care services

If you or a family member needs care or support services for the first time, it can be difficult to know where to find information about what’s out there. The county council currently provides online directories to help people find the support they need, through lincolnshire.gov.uk and lincolnshire.connecttosupport.org

Improving support for young people with disabilities

Strut House is a short breaks home for children and young people who have severe and profound disabilities. I was pleased to attend the  official opening on its new site recently.

This will provide short overnight breaks in a safe, nurturing and caring environment for up to five children and young people aged 5-18 years each night.

The site has been refurbished with modern and spacious facilities designed to accommodate the diverse needs of the young people staying there, meaning the home can better support complex and significant special needs and disabilities.

Strut House was recently rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted for the 12th consecutive year, and with these new facilities I am confident that staff will continue to provide families with excellent support for years to come.

Community Choice, the Usher Gallery’s new exhibition which opens on Saturday (10 June), is an eclectic display of Lincolnshire artworks, many of which have not been seen in public for decades, if ever. The items on show were picked from around 500 pieces from the county’s vast collection by five Lincoln-based community groups. This is part of an ongoing initiative to involve local people in exhibitions and events at Lincoln Museum and Usher Gallery. Entry is free of charge. Plan your visit at Community Choice | The Collection (lincolnmuseum.co.uk).

Visitors have the chance to explore Lincoln Castle with their four-legged friends in June thanks to the latest Dog Friendly Days. Find out more at DOG FRIENDLY DAYS 2023 - JUNE – Lincoln Castle

Feedback on the Highways reporting system

I was pleased to hear that a resident was impressed with the response he received when he reported a highways fault recently. He had used the recommended “Fixmystreet” app. As a I have mentioned in the past all manner of faults can be reported via this app. Just go to the drop-down menu and pick the fault you wish to report. If you have any problems with getting the fault fixed, please let me know quoting the reference number.
